My research focuses on environmental microbiology and bioremediation specializing in isolation and characterization of novel anaerobic bacteria beneficial to the environment involved in nitrate and iron-(III) reducing metabolisms. I also have a strong interest in soil microbiology involved in soil health, biotechnology and electricity-producing bacteria. My expertise includes anaerobic microbial physiology, microbial fuel cells, microbial identification and phylogeny, microbial enumeration and visualization techniques, and high-throughput sequencing.
